“You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”
Jeremiah 29:13
Now that you have become a Christian you are starting a brand new life. When you repented of your sin, turned to God and accepted Jesus into your life, a remarkable spiritual event took place – you were born again. This means that you became a child of God and his Spirit came to live in you. So you are now a new (spiritual) baby, who needs to grow up (spiritually), to acquire (spiritual) skills and to learn how to be a mature (spiritual) member of God’s family.
A baby may be born to rich parents and one day inherit their wealth. However, they do not expect their newborn to begin managing the family company as soon as they get out of the maternity ward! A baby has to grow first by drinking milk. The Bible says “Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation.” (1Peter 2:2)
Your spiritual food is the word of God which is the Bible: “Now I commit you to God and to the word of his grace, which can build you up.” (Acts 20: 32) You need to read and study the Bible in order for your ‘inner’ spirit-person to grow and become strong.
The Bible is much more than a book because “The word of God is living and active.” (Hebrews 4: 12) Jesus said “The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life.” ( John 6: 63)
As a baby grows and is transformed, you likewise must go through a spiritual transformation process. The Bible says “Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” (Romans 12:2) And “You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.” (Ephesians 4:22-24)
It is essential, therefore, that you submit to God who is now your Father, and change your life by changing your beliefs through accepting and submitting to the truth that is contained only his Word, which is the Bible.
The lessons provided here in New Christian Course will assist you in understanding that truth.

The robe, the ring & the sandals
Once you have completed the “Lessons for New Christians”, Parts II and III of this book, “The Robe, The Ring and The Sandals – The Steps to Christian Maturity”, will help you understand the further stages which are necessary to reach Christian maturity. Believers are to undergo a transformation. The Bible reveals that a process is
involved beginning from the moment of conversion through which we are brought into a state of Christlikeness. Various passages of scripture show that there are three stages of spiritual development. Once a believer completes these stages they will have become mature, and reflect the very nature of their father God. These stages identify the essential elements of growth which are necessary to bring a person into the lifestyle of normal Christian living.
The pattern of Christian development is portrayed in the three items given to the prodigal son upon his return:
“But the father said to his servants, ‘Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet.” Luke 15:22
The three stages are arranged in an important and vital sequence: first the robe, secondly the ring and only after these two elements comes the last, the sandals. The robe represents righteousness, which is our identity in Christ. The ring represents our authority over Satan. The sandals represent Spirit-led and selfless servanthood. A mature Christian has progressed through each of these steps; altogether the steps represent true Christlikeness. A mature Christian reflects the very life that Jesus modeled upon the earth. They live in intimate relationship with God and bear much fruit. Read More

Warning for new christians
The last 50 years has seen a dramatic change in the church throughout the world. Many so-called ‘Christian’ churches no longer believe the Bible to be the sole source of authority. They now accept and teach ideas, practices and philosophies which are contrary to the Bible; and which the Bible calls doctrines “taught by demons” (1Timothy 4:1).
Jesus and the apostles (men that Jesus chose and trained as leaders of the church) warned of false Christs, false apostles, false prophets and false teachers who would masquerade as authentic representatives of Jesus Christ; but who are really wolves in sheep’s clothing. These workers of iniquity “secretly introduce destructive heresies” (2 Peter 2:1).
The technological age in which we now live permits the profile of such deceivers to be lifted and their teaching to be extended to an unprecedented level throughout the whole world.
The fact is, that a tidal wave of falsehood has swept over the church and many (perhaps most) churches are being swept along by its strong currents.
This situation has placed you as a new Christian, in a very difficult and dangerous situation. Churches you might seek out as a spiritual family and spiritual home, may lead you from the truth rather than to the truth.
Therefore, we have provided here summaries of false teachings and false teachers to be on your guard against. Carefully avoid churches that promote these ideas and these persons.

will the real christian please stand up
This book, Will the Real Christian Please Stand Up, examines the five-fold test of authentic Christianity from 1John. The Apostle John wrote his first letter with the express purpose to reveal those who have eternal life and contrast those who were not saved and did not possess eternal life.
As in the early church of John’s day, so is is today; there are those who are genuine Christians and those who are false Christians. There is good reason to believe that there are multitudes who attend church and are unaware that they are in a lost state.
Contained in John’s letter, there is a five-fold test of overlapping and interlocking criteria that proves the authenticity of true believers. It includes these elements:
- Genuine repentance
- Love for the truth
- Freedom from sin
- A life of obedience
- Love for one another
Will the Real Christian Please Stand Up will help you distinguish between true and false Christianity as it carefully explains and explores the essential defining characteristics of what it means to be a real Christian.
